Your basic Screw Drivers

Two Types of Screwdrivers

A screwdriver is a hand tool that is used in conjunction with devices called screws. A screw is a cylindrical device with a slat or rounded head on one side, each with a distinguishable indentation (in which specific screwdrivers are inserted to drive the screw) and are pointed and ridged on the other end. These ridges allow for the screws to have an easier time being driven into the chosen material.

By matching the correct type of screwdriver to the complementary screw a person can apply pressure with a rotational force as a way to drive the screws into the wood/sheetrock or other material. Harder substances may call for a drill or a mechanical screwdriver but primarily around the house every home owner should own the following two basic screwdrivers: the slotted screwdriver and the Phillips Head screwdriver.

The Phillips Head Screwdriver is the most popular screwdriver out there.
