Hammers
Have you ever noticed that some kids, from the time they are small, love to pound on something. Almost every little boy has had one of those toy tool benches where you pound the pegs down into the bench. There is something instinctive here. Well as we all know, hammers are an essential part of every one's tool-chest, tool box or tool supply.

There are different types of hammers that serve an array of different purposes. Perhaps best known is the claw hammer. Typically associated with carpentry work, the claw hammer has a head with one side of the head having a flat service and used for pounding nails. the other side is called a claw because it is forked for pulling out nails.
The handle is usually made from a hardwood, hardened plastic or some other durable material, even metal, but this is rare. The ball pein hammer has a flat head on one side and a rounded head on the other side and can be used to hammer metal into different shapes. Hammer heads are made from hardened steel and generally are used to strike metals or other surfaces that are softer in nature. You want to avoid striking one hammer head against another hammer head or similarly hard steel object in that this can cause splintering.
Some hammers have a wooden or rubber head. These can sometimes be called mallets and they are used for pounding rubber, wood or even steel when you want to avoid smashing, chipping or denting the object that is being struck. another type of large hammer is called the sledge hammer. This hammer is helpful for breaking up asphalt, cement or wooden structures or surfaces.
